Village Babies Inclement Weather Procedures

The decision to close school due to inclement weather is a very difficult and serious undertaking. When deciding whether to close the Center,  the following factors  are taken into consideration:

• Amount of snow;
• Time snow falls, and when the snowfall is expected to end;
• Ability to clear parking lots and sidewalks around schools;
• Condition of all streets (thoroughfare and residential), and bus stops;
• Freezing rain and the effect on roads, power lines and tree limbs;
• Wind and wind chill; and,
• Temperature (watched closely when predicted near 0º)

At all times the safety of students and staff is the basis for determining the delayed opening  or closing of the Center

In most situations, the decision to close the center will be made by 5:00 a.m. When the Center is closed for the day, all extra-curricular activities (After –School Program) and field trips are cancelled.

In addition, you may call the school at 973-378-5906 for recorded announcements advising of a school closing.

If the weather worsens or is expected to deteriorate once school has started, early pick-ups may become necessary, as per the determination of the administrative staff.
