Village Babies offers a variety of unique childcare programs and services, a highly trained and dedicated staff, and a spacious facility located in South Orange, New Jersey. We offer a wide variety of learning programs for any child between the ages of six weeks and five years old. At Village Babies, your children will be immersed in group and individual activity both indoors and out. Eleven years ago, Village Babies founder Dana Kearney’s search for a professional, compassionate child care facility was not yielding the results she hoped for. With the hectic schedule of a Registered Nurse and a newborn son in need of daily care, Dana needed quality childcare as soon as possible.

Dana began a small babysitting business out of her home, using her fifteen years of experience as a pediatric nurse to provide care for her own son and the children of her neighbors. She eventually registered the business as an LLC, and Village Babies Development Center was born. Dana’s belief that childcare facilities should provide a warm, safe, welcoming environment focused on play-based learning, has been the focus of Village Babies since.

In May of 2014, Village Babies received funding to participate in a statewide pilot program titled Grow NJ Kids. The program is a federal Race to the Top Early Learning Challenge grant with the purpose of implementing a “quality rating and improvement system” (QRIS) for child care in the state of New Jersey. Data collected from the initial participants in the program will be compiled, analyzed, and used to develop a standardized system of child care in the state. This will greatly increase the overall quality of New Jersey child care and will allow parents to make an informed decision about where they send their children. Village Babies is proud to have been chosen to participate in Grow NJ Kids and improve the child care industry in this wonderful state!
